Today was such an eventful day for Spike. We practically sprinted to his doctor's appointment because once again, we slept in, lol. We were walking VERY briskly the whole 2 miles, but it really wasn't that bad. Anyhow, we got to the vet and he got his shots and some blood work done. We also got sedatives for him to use on the plane.
Alan went to his second dental appointment and found out even more bad news about his teeth. Poor husband. He has to get like two root canals...eww. Anyhow, I was stuck waiting outside for freaking two and a half hours. I couldn't get food or coffee since I had a Spike with me. And sadly the weather today wasn't the greatest. It was overcast, windy and cool. I was very hungry and cranky and man I was a raging bitch when he came out, lol. I love you Heather!! I am sooo thankful that I called you to vent, ah, you saved my life during that hour I was sitting in the cold on the hard freaking sidewalk!!! Alan thanks you too, although he doesn't know it, lol. I definitely feel horrible now that I look back on it, but god I was pissed! So far in two days his dental work has cost about $1047...and we still have a good two more days at least of work that needs to be done. I think it will be alright though. I am past it and realize that it really needs to be done; plus I love him!
Back to Spike...well the doctor had said that I should test the sedative before we actually fly so I know how much to use. She said he should just be calm and still be able to walk. Since there were a lot of people around I figured that I could give him an 1/8 of the pill and hopefully it would just calm him down. It definitely did, lol. After about 45 or so minutes, he got up in my lap--I was sitting on concrete on the sidewalk--and fell asleep. I moved a little and he tried to get up and couldn't hardly stand! He was falling over and I was like, wow...what's wrong with him? I had forgotten I gave him the sedative and when I remembered I cracked up hysterically!
He was fine after he got used to the whole situation. Although the rest of the day his eyes were very droopy looking, haha. He was very calm and couldn't really walk in a straight line either, lol. He kinda looked drunk, or high or some combination of the two.
After we were FINALLY done with Alan's appointment and my bitchiness, we walked back home and went to Pet Smart. We got Spike professonally groomed. I was very thankful that I gave him the sedative because he definitely was nice and calm during his hair cut. He got his nails done too! AND we made his first dog tag. It is the coolest thing!! We feel like such awesome pet owners now. He got a new collar, harness, and leash! Maegs, you are going to LOVE them! And the new harness is the coolest thing ever...no crazy loops or anything. I can't wait to show you : ) Basically Spike had an AWESOME day today and he looks beautiful.

lol you have been getting really REALLY cranky/mean lately. I love you though ... Im sorry I said that comment. I promise this will all be so far behind us in a couple months and we'll be great! Just wait until a year goes by things will be better than we can imagine

ReplyDeletelol I'm sure I will love Spikes new accessories. lol I'm going to be getting Roz a new collar once my paycheck comes and I make my first car payment. Oh, I didn't tell you...and it can't be posted on facebook just so you know...I bought a 1986 diesel Jetta, stick shift. hahaha...I'm still getting use to driving a manual, but I kill it less everyday. Bahahahahahaha... I'm hoping I'll have it where I don't kill it when you are down. It is a lot nicer then then other car and there is a ton more leg room and trunk room which is very, very nice :) I'm sorry to hear about Alan's poor teeth. I'm sure he is just "loving" the dentist now. At least he will have pretty teeth after all is said and done. When are you getting Spike snipped? Love you!!
